Brianna & Mike Engagement Photoshoot
Brianna and Mike told me before their engagement session that they were “awkward picture takers.” In hindsight, this is difficult to imagine. It was so incredibly obvious from the jump that these two are giddily in love with each other. In fact, they couldn’t help themselves from making each other crack up in between scene changes (or even in the middle of photo bursts). The end result of course was a strikingly organic, joy-filled gallery of photographs that truly showcase the pure love and admiration that Brianna and Mike share with each other.
I mean just look at them! If that isn’t love, I don’t know what love is. Mike in particular had a proclivity for sneaking in jokes during the closer-up photographs, resulting in some of the most genuine, and heartwarming smiles one could hope to catch on camera.
We did our shoot in two locations: an afternoon session at Storm King Art Center, and a golden hour session at Lake Minnewaska. The whole Hudson Valley was awash in the warm aureate glow of autumn; the perfect backdrop for the candid laughter of two people who couldn’t contain their admiration for each other if they tried.
(Mike wasn’t sure what to make of the attempt at dipping, but Brianna had a blast).
And don’t even get me started with their wonderful pup, Cliff. There’s just something truly special about rescue dogs isn’t there? Cliff just couldn’t keep himself out of the action — I mean he really wanted to be a part of the engagement shoot. And why shouldn’t he? He is an inseparable member of the family!
When Cliff wasn’t trying to third-wheel, he took it upon himself to enthusiastically greet every passerby with sniffs and kisses. If all eyes weren’t already fixed on Brianna and Mike, Cliff made a point to attract the rest.
Both sessions felt at all times like a pleasant stroll, filled with thoughtful reminiscing. If it weren’t for the nearby photographer, one probably wouldn’t even think this was a photoshoot; rather a date night or romantic autumn outing. Brianna and Mike took their time enjoying the scenery and each other. In the end, the experience wasn’t awkward at all. To them, this was a special moment to be cherished in real time.
Brianna and Mike (and Cliff), couples like you make my job light and easy. I wish you the best for your coming wedding and beyond!
